Okay, now that the first petal is done let's move on the two more pedals. Select the face on the side that is one extrusion in front of the last extrusion. Now in face mode extrude it out holding down Control (WIN) or Command (MAC).
Squeeze the edges in like you did on the first petal. Now make a total of 5 extrusions on both sides of the flower (see below).
Extrude each side of the new petals and extrude out the ends like below. Shift select the faces and hold down Control (WIN), Command (MAC) to extrude the sides out.
Like before on the first petal we need to round out the two new ones. In edge mode select the edges and move them in to the center a bit. In this case the Z grid was active.
You should have something like the shape you see below. Now it's starting to look a little like a flower.
Now extrude the back bottom edges out 5 sections just like you did for the first 3 petals. These will become the last two big petals of the orchid.
Extrude the petals out from the center like before and move the edges in to round out the petals too. You should have something that looks like this when your are done.
Okay, now it's time to make the "tongue" of the orchid. Select the middle, bottom face and extrude it down.
Once that face is extruded then you want to rotate it a little. Use the rotate tool to rotate the face around. In this case the X grid is active. Once you have it rotated you will need to extrude it again so you have something like the screen shot below.
Extrude the side of this out on both sides. This will become some small petals of the orchid.
Do With the X grid active select the edges of this extrusion and squeeze the space up. You can only do one edge at a time.
Now using the extrude and rotate tools make a curved extrusion like below. It may take a few times to get this one right but make sure you are holding the Control key (WIN), Command (MAC) when you are extruding and rotating.
I had to switch to my MAC for the rest of the screen shots on this one, sorry for the change in screens. Anyway, once you do this on both sides you should have something that looks like the screen shot below.
After getting these extrusions done you will need to extrude out the side faces to make it more like a small petal. Just like you did in the big petals shift select the end faces and extrude them out holding down the Control Key (WIN), Command Key (MAC).
