So, my kids are out of school and we are gone for spring break but I thought I would put this little Strata to Flash tutorial together for you to take a quick look at. It is short and only covers making a looping animation but this is the basic way to make a Strata animation work in Flash. If your a real flash whiz you will see the possibilities with this feature!

I made a rounded cube with the rounded cube primitive. I set the rounded corner to 10%. You can set the percentage of roundness my double clicking the icon for the rounded cube primitive. Then I dropped in a camera and positioned it where I wanted it.

Here is my timeline for the looping animation. I rotated the cube 45 degrees 4 times. This way the cube will loop without and hiccups.

Now with the camera window open click on the swift 3D button.

These are the settings I used for this example. You can have different render views by clicking on the dropdown menu above the preview window. Edge options are for making the wireframe show up. If all you want is a wirerfram of your model then uncheck all the Fill Options and check some of the Edge Options. Make sure you have the Animate box checked or you will only get the first frame of the animation.

Now that I have rendered it as a .swf file I can bring it into Flash. Inside Flash use the File>Import and browse to the .swf file you made from Strata. It should look something like this below. The cool thing about this is that now you can make movie clips of these animations and add all sorts of interactivity with action script.

Okay, so below I have the animation going in a simple loop. I have made a movie clip out of it and set the transparency to one of them to 35%. Like I said earlier, this is just a quickie way to get an animation from Strata to Flash. If you know Flash at all the possibilities for interactive 3D web stuff is endless. Have fun.
